Um 7.30 komme ich am Da-Vinci-Gymnasium in Berlin-Rudow an. Banyan Workshop an einem Gymnasium? Schön, let´s try!

Herr Neuhaus, der Kunstlehrer der Klasse 8 erwartet mich, wir bauen gemeinsam die Technik auf, dann kommen schon die Schüler. Zuerst mein Part: Präsentation des Projektes, mit Laptop und Beamer. Dann viele Erklärungen dazu, dann die Aufteilung in Kleingruppen. Die Schüler wählen sich Arbeiten der folgenden Banyan-Künstler:

Die Schwierigkeiten dieses Workshops zeigen sich gleich am ersten Tag: Eigentlich wollen alle 30 Teilnehmer mit dem Computer arbeiten, aber dafür ist die Schule nicht vorbereitet. Es fehlen nötige Softwarelizenzen, Internetzugang und die Möglichkeit des freien Arbeitens an Computern.

Aber wir tun unser Bestes, den Wünschen der Schüler doch gerecht zu werden. Gleich von Anfang an zeigen sich die Folgen: Es enstehen Wartezeiten, die nicht unbedingt von allen kreativ genutzt werden können. Ich rechtfertige aber den schwierigen Verlauf: Es muss gemeinsam improvisiert werden, auch das will gelernt sein. Und die Schüler müssen sich gegenseitig helfen, Arbeit im Team.

Überraschend für alle ist, wie schnell Konzepte für die Banyan -Remixes enstehen. Jetzt müssen sie nur noch umgesetzt werden. "Ich bin schon fertig!" "Nein, warte, so schnell geht das nicht, erklär mal, warum du dir dieses Konzept überlegt hast..."

The difficulties of this Workshops show up equal on the first day:
Actually all 30 participants with the computer want to work, but
but the school is not prepared. Are missing forces

But we add our best, the desires of the pupils nevertheless fairly
become. Directly the consequences show up from the outset: Enstehen
Waiting periods, which are not creatively used necessarily by all
can. I justify however the difficult process: It must together
are improvised, also that wants to be learned. And the pupils must
mutually help themselves, work in the team.

Surprisingly for all is fast, like concepts for the Banyan - Remixes
enstehen. Now they must be only converted. “I already am
