Exhibition in Goetheinstitut in Bangkok. Results of working of the Workshops to the Silpakorn University. Single contributions of 12 students and common work. Some students did not become finished with their own work. The professors come, in order the works perforce to benoten, and agree on it, later due to from photos to to decide. Stress in the afternoon. Mr. Eckstein asks me to a discussion with Professor Amrit Chusuwan. Some students had not gotten along obviously with my kind of informing. They weighted. I had reacted obviously too sharply, if they had simply not kept common dates and arrangements. That was unfortunately so often before-pleased that I had reacted ever more provoked to it, e.g.. with the threat that they might not issue their work. Finally they had extracted themselves by kidnapping the time schedule of any argument over their work, from the actual sense and purpose of the Workshops. Me that I had made a giant error, and knew however on the other hand no alternative to it was clear. Some things had already run in the Setup of the Workshops inclined: 1. It was an obligation meeting. But not I was that, which expressed the obligation, but Professor Amrit Chusuwan. The Workshop should have been better voluntary. 2. The place. The students had specially 80km journeys, this because the Workshop for universitypolitical reasons in the Campus in Bangkok to take place should, not in the Campus outside, in which the students work mostly. Thus no everyday meetings with the students could take place, one saw themselves once in the week for 2, 3 hours. Too little for the level of the students. In the evening the tendency had again improved, we was all completely terribly proudly on the exhibition and all the mad contributions. The straight mixture from the single contributions and the Workshoparbeiten constituted the Flair of the whole. The stress had been worthwhile itself thus nevertheless! Statements, which I got to hear later: Very interesting. Not beautifully, but very much stretching. Power me fear. Goetheinstitut is like a cemetery, everywhere is the spirit now. I do not want to come any longer, until the exhibition to the end is, etc..

Einige Studenten sind mit ihren eigenen Arbeiten nicht fertig geworden. Die Professoren kommen, um die Werke zu benoten, und einigen sich notgedrungen darauf, später aufgrund von Fotos zu entscheiden.

Stress am Nachmittag. Herr Eckstein bittet mich zu einem Gespräch mit Prof. Amrit Chusuwan. Einige Studenten waren offensichtlich mit meiner Art des Unterrichtens nicht zurechtgekommen. Sie haben sich beschwert.
Ich hatte offensichtlich zu scharf reagiert, wenn sie gemeinsame Termine und Absprachen einfach nicht eingehalten hatten. Das war leider so oft vorgefallen, dass ich immer gereizter darauf reagiert hatte, zB . mit der Drohung, dass sie ihre Arbeiten nicht ausstellen dürften.
Schliesslich hatten sie sich durch das Verschleppen des Terminplanes jeglicher Auseinandersetzung über ihre Arbeiten entzogen, dem eigentlichen Sinn und Zweck des Workshops.

Mir war klar, dass ich einen Riesenfehler gemacht hatte, und wusste aber andererseits keine Alternative dazu.
Einige Dinge waren schon in dem Setup des Workshops schief gelaufen: 1. Es war eine Pflichtveranstaltung. Aber nicht ich war derjenige, der die Pflicht aussprach, sondern Prof. Amrit Chusuwan. Der Workshop hätte besser freiwillig sein sollen. 2. Der Ort. Die Studenten mussten extra 80km anreisen, dies weil der Workshop aus hochschulpolitischen Gründen in dem Campus in Bangkok stattfinden sollte, nicht in dem Campus ausserhalb, in dem die Studenten zumeist arbeiten. Dadurch konnten keine alltäglichen Begegnungen mit den Studenten stattfinden, man sah sich einmal in der Woche für 2, 3 Stunden. Zuwenig für den Level der Studenten.
Am Abend hatte sich die Stimmung wieder verbessert, wir waren alle ganz furchtbar stolz auf die Ausstellung und all die tollen Beiträge. Gerade die Mischung aus den Einzelbeiträgen und den Workshoparbeiten machte den Flair des ganzen aus. Der Stress hatte sich also doch gelohnt!

Aussagen, die ich später zu hören bekam: Sehr interessant. Nicht schön, aber sehr spannend. Macht mir Angst. Das Goetheinstitut ist jetzt wie ein Friedhof, überall sind die Geister. Ich will nicht mehr kommen, bis die Ausstellung zuende ist, etc.
